Lisa Han (b. 1992, Seoul, South Korea) is an artist based in Melbourne, Australia. Though she comes from a medical background, she rekindled her long-lost passion for art during the city’s lockdown. Her pieces primarily feature women — and occasionally cats — evoking a serene, whimsical atmosphere. Inspired by Japanese pop culture and traditional woodblock prints, her work is defined by bold, vivid colours and elegant simplicity. In addition to painting, Lisa also works as a tattoo artist, bringing her artistic style to life on skin.

I’ve spent a lot of time in the past few years introspecting and learning to befriend myself - the companion that has always been present, yet whom I had never acknowledged. As a result, I naturally find myself expressing my own emotions through my artwork, which are often characterised by melancholy, joy, or quiet contentment found in moments of solitude.

Quiet Companion reflects these fleeting yet familiar feelings that we all share, with a touch of lighthearted feline fun inspired by my two cats, Tommy and Benny, who are also my (mostly) quiet companions.
