Artist statement:

The background story is about the Mute Swan being transported to foreign lands for ornamental purposes to decorate parks and gardens.

They are monogamous and return to the same nesting site each year. When they lose a partner, they go through a grieving process, often spending hours gazing at their reflection, interpreting the image as their lost partner. Because of this, I’ve taken a line from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet as a title.
