Artist statement:

I wanted this work to be a portrait inspired by Spring, embracing a sweet, more youthful look and pastel palette.  I felt given the time of year of the show and the harsher winter we experienced locally, the coming Spring was a suitable idea in regards to the shows theme 'Return to Beauty'. The painting's title, 'Maia', comes from the mythological Greek Goddess of Spring.
