Artist statement:

My painting Floralia combines my love of Greek and Roman mythology and culture with my search for beauty in the world. Each year, as the world turns from winter to spring, I find myself remembering the stories from myth that explain the change of seasons. I love seeing the blossoms appear on the trees and plants around my home. This painting represents my lifelong fascination with that annual transformation through the ancient celebration of flowers and the goddess Flora, the Floralia. The frame was custom-designed by me in 3D and then printed and finished with metal leaf to support the mood and composition of the painting.
