Miriam Frank (b. 1985 in Munich, Germany) is an interdisciplinary artist, working across illustration, fine art, and tattooing. She studied Communication Design (Master of Arts) in Augsburg, Germany, focusing on illustration.
Pen on paper, brush on canvas, hands on clay, saw through wood, tattoo needle under the skin. Miriam Frank is particularly interested in materials and surfaces, experimenting with different dimensions and tools. Her distinctive style combines bold lines, playful forms, and vibrant colors. She finds inspiration by nature, travel, and pop culture. Especially the drifting Tokyo and the lonely nature of Iceland are recurring themes in her work.
Miriam is based in Munich and works internationally as a guest tattoo artist and regularly exhibits her mixed-media artworks in galleries and art fairs.
Artist's Statement
The Art of Getting Lost by Miriam Frank invites the viewer on a journey into the depths of nature – to where the boundary between the self and the environment dissolves and wonder takes over. This collection of paintings and ceramics explores the intimate and often dreamlike connection between humans and the wild: from the mysterious vastness of the ocean to the dense, untamed jungle.
Each work shows people surrendering to their fascination with nature and allowing themselves to be carried away by the presence of animals, the rhythm of water, and the pulse of the forest. In getting lost, they find something deeper — an instinctive sense of belonging, awe, and transformation.
