Sylvia Ji is an American painter born into a family of artists. Her work delves into the mystery of Día de los Muertos, the Otherness of femininity, and the angst of contemporary realities of beauty held up against more traditional ideas. These highly charged images of women are sometimes symbolic reflections of herself, portraits of people she knows or just nameless faces set in a landscape of fleeting beauty.
The artist has been in great demand over recent years with exhibitions and works in publications worldwide. Sylvia visited Outré for an exhibition of original paintings and exclusive prints in 2011.
