Amok Island - Endemism

SEP 25th - OCT 9th 2015 - PERTH

"Endemism is the ecological state of a species being unique to a defined, single geographic location, such as an island, nation, country or other defined zone, or habitat type."

Outré Gallery is proud to present "Endemism" - an exhibition of new work by Amok Island, proudly sponsored by Pinkus Woodwork and Mane Liquor.

Amok Island is a multi-disciplinary artist from The Netherlands, based in North Fremantle, Western Australia. His practice spans painting, murals and sculptural work. He has exhibited his work in The Netherlands, Japan and Australia and painted murals in over 15 countries. He was listed in 2015 as one of the top 10 Dutch urban artists by WideWalls.

Since 2013 Amok Island started various ongoing sculptural projects using stainless steel and concrete, submerging concrete letter sculptures in various marine environments around Western Australia, documenting the process of nature taking over.

His first solo show since 2014, "Endemism" explores the artists fascination with unique species from environments around the world.
