Long Gone John Show

To celebrate the documentary on uber collector Long Gone John "The Treasures of Long Gone John", we're gearing up for an awe-inspiring international group exhibition showcasing some of Long Gone John’s favourite artists from the pop-surreal and lowbrow genre. The exhibition unearths some of the American underground art stars featured in the film including; Mark Ryden, Todd Schorr, Shag, Robert Williams, Coop, Tim Biskup, Camille Rose Garcia, Anthony Austgang, Gary Baseman and Seonna Hong.  It's gonna be full of dark dripping fairytales, twisted nostalgic trips, jazz inspired graphic madness, devil girls aplenty, cartoon aesthetic on acid and some of the original visions from hotrod and custom culture’s original Robert Williams.

Book to see the film on Friday night (11 August), then come back to Outré for the opening of this inspired group show. RSVP to the opening at Outré!

Great Union 7pm, Friday 11 August 2006
Introduction (at cinema) and informal post-screening Q & A (at gallery) with Gregg Gibbs (Director) and Greg Escalante (Executive Producer and Co-Founder & Curator of Juxtapoz Magazine) both out from LA for the events.

Exciting announcement: As part of this amazing show, we have on offer one very rare and sought after print by Mark Ryden.  "The Angel of Meat", canvas edition in custom shape frame.  There is only one available through Outré.  Serious expressions of interest can be emailed to Outré Melbourne

Skulls! Wheels! and Ink!

We are flirting with our badside with our hotly curated tattoo and kustom-kulture group exhibition "Skulls, Wheels and Ink" running throughout September with a collection of works by Angelique Houtkamp, Miss Van, Mike Giant, John John Jesse, Keith Weesner and Sunny Buick.  Both Angelique Houtkamp and Keith Weesner will also be out in Australia from Amsterdam and LA respectively for the show to meet, greet and inspire!

We did a genuine trawl of the world for this international showcase of original art from some truly collectable names.  Original, one-off pieces are gems that only ever come your way once.  If you haven't taken the plunge into the goodness and pleasure of owning and collecting original art, then this might be your moment.  Take a leaf out of Long Gone John's book and pick up a treasure you will love forever.

Show opens in Melbourne on Friday 1 September and in Sydney on Friday 8 September.  Both Angelique and Keith will be at these events.  RSVP now, as places are tight!
