APAK Showcase
APAK are husband-and-wife collaborative duo Ayumi and Aaron Piland, who hide out like hermits on the outskirts of Portland, Oregon in their cosy studio. Outré is proud to be presenting this sweet showcase of their original works here in Melbourne. The show opens on Saturday 1 March 2008
Apak's works illustrating "the
fantastic utopian life and adventures of little beings living in a lush
organic environments surrounded by curious and friendly little animals."
Tweaked with fantastic elements and charged by rich colors, the familiar
landscapes are familiar yet surreal, hinting at fantastic narrative while
suggesting truths about the real world at the same time.
Otherworldly and reminding us of our favourite children's storybooks with a touch of twisted imagination - we love APAK!
Showcase runs from 1 - 21 March 2008
APAK will be doing a return showcase in March 2009 in Darlinghurst! Yay!
