Fawn Gehweiler's artwork, once described by The Face magazine as "the visual equivalent of candyfloss peppered with broken glass, delicious yet dangerous", has exhibited in galleries around the world, appears regularly in art and design books, and has been commissioned for a number of fashion features and collections. She describes her work as being caught up in an endless loop of "art imitates life imitates art" and speaks to the imaginary world of little girls, treading the fine line between wide eyed innocence and dark fairy tales.

Fawn's signature characters combine the influence of storybook theme parks, eccentrics and garden parties, alpine kitsch, vintage childrens books, and a long-standing obsession with otherworldly beauties such as Shelley Duvall, Twiggy, Pippi Longstocking, Vera Chytilova's Daisies, and the wispy Parisiennes of Igor Pantuhoff paintings, and emerge out of the kind of dreamy nostalgia that only little girls of the 70's can create. Imagine a swan boat ride through a candy colored mushroom world inhabited by heavy lashed Biba girls and rock and roll elf boys and you're halfway there.

Fawn drenches her quintessential portraits of modern day angels with dirty faces in a selective color palette of cupcake frosting pastels, from cotton candy pink to sour apple green. Her whimsical color combinations are so reminiscent of another time and place that it's almost as if she picked her hues from the shelves of a forgotten seaside candy shop.
