Okay, here are
Gemma Jones's Top Ten picks for festive giving. All available at time of sending! Some stock very limited! *** Please note: some pieces are available to Australian customers only. Thanks for your understanding!
1. Space Totem by Shag (sillkscreen print)
Wow, Shag's first ever abstract print - available from Outré exclusively. This jazzy mid-century modern favoured piece is a perfect compliment to fifties homes and sharp Shag collections!
2. Princess Molecule by Tim Biskup (framed print)
Awww! Little Miss Molecule is the babe of the atomic age and reminds us of some of our favourite mini mods!
3. Sailor Jerry Collins: American Tattoo Master (book)
This hard-to-get book is an amazing look at the art and life of one of the most well-known old school tattoo artists. Great traditional flash, photos and history.
4. Utopia Bud Vase by Jonathan Adler (ceramic)
Jonathan Adler is the NYC craft king. His hi-modern ceramics are favoured by collectors with an eye to quality, fun and mid-century styling. I love this folk face with a spin - gal on one side, boy on the other. Its like a little love icon!!!
5. Happy Kitty Bunny Pony (book)
If anyone knows me at all, they know that I'm a crazy-cat-lady in the making. This is a super kitsch book of amazing retro imagery that celebrates cute-a-rama! Its fabulously sickening!
6. Sparkle and Spin (book)
Classic mod style illustrations in the 1957 children's book will appeal to designers and mid-century fans as well as kiddies!
7. Tribes of Monsterism by Pete Fowler (vinyl toys) The Molvox live in the deserts and scrublands of Monsterism Island - these horned critters from Pete Fowler are long awaited and groovily designed including flocked features (mmmm ... fuzzy!). We sell these individually.
8. Mambo for Cats by Jim Flora (framed print)
Jim Flora is the great-uncle in spirit & style of Biskup and Shag. His distinctive, sharp, quirky graphic style that dates back to the 40's and 50's graced many a cool jazz record cover back in the day. This kooky, electric print is a beautiful, quality reproduction of one of his most loved covers.
9. Too Young Too Die Ashtray by Yoshitomo Nara (ceramic)
Yoshitomo Nara is one of my alltime favourite artists. He bedevils his typically cute and vulnerable figures with an undercurrent of violent intent and punk rock attitude. Rah! This is a cute, rebel product in a killer size!
10. Love/Hate by Angelique Houtkamp (limited edition print)
Angelique Houtkamp is the darling of the Dutch tattoo scene! Her double trouble deco delight is one of my personal faves!
